Heat shrink Tubing or "Heat Shrink" is manufactured from thermoplastic materials like Polyolefin and has many applications. It is effective as a result of Polymerization - a chemical reaction which causes the material to shrink in diameter when heat is applied to it. As such, Heat Shrink is popular in many fields, particularly Electrical Engineering where it is used to bind groups of cables and components together to aid identification and to provide environmental protection and abrasion resistance.
