How the GHS Information Should Appear

The labelling requirements of GHS dictate that no Warning Diamonds can be left unpopulated, and must be clearly visible to the end user. The labels must also be BS5609 approved, which is the standard widely used as an indicator of a very robust label.

Hazard statements should describe the nature of the hazard in the substance mixture e.g “Toxic if swallowed” or “Causes serious eye damage”. Precautionary statements should explain to the end user the recommended measures to minimise or prevent adverse effects resulting in exposure to a hazardous substance.

Hazard & Precautionary Statements

The CLP Regulation also introduces two new signal words: "Danger" and "Warning".
