Etiquette Labels Q&A

Chris Davies is Etiquette Labels Marketing Manager and has been with the company for over 5 years. After leaving the media industry and the bright lights of London behind, Chris returned to North Wales  to take up his role at Etiquette. Chris has been very influential in the direction the business has taken and helped Etiquette achieve year on year growth. He recently became a father for the first time, and today we managed to catch up with him, to discuss a few points about the labelling industry.

What attracted you to the labelling industry?

Variation. At Etiquette we work with many customers across a broad range of industries so every day there is something different. It may be an exciting new label design for a customer who is rebranding, or a difficult and interesting application that requires our team to think outside the box and come up with a solution – everyday there is something happening and to be a part of that and a part of this industry is great.

Why did you choose to work for Etiquette?

The people. From the instant I first stepped through the doors at Etiquette it was obvious that there was a fantastic working atmosphere. As cliched as it always sounds we are really like a big family and I can honestly say there’s never been a day where I’ve thought “I don’t want to go to work today”.

What separates Etiquette from other label manufacturers?

As I’ve said I think the people we have here are what makes us one of the best in the business. We have experts in every single area of labelling and can call upon a vast amount of experience to deliver the right advice to customers. The care and attention that everyone puts into their roles here is second to none and means that we can produce quality work that is rarely matched.

What is the most pleasing aspect of your role in Etiquette?

Seeing my work get results that help the business to grow and that enables my colleagues and their families to benefit from the subsequent rewards that come with it. Also, I love speaking to happy and satisfied customers.

What is the most inspiring label design you have seen?

Whilst we have some amazing, intricate and cool label designs going through the presses on a daily basis, I wouldnt say that artwork is the most inspiring part of a label. The most inspiring aspect of a label for me is seeing it grace a product that a customer has seen through from an idea to a reality. People put their blood, sweat, tears, hearts and soul into developing their businesses and it is a road that is never easy. Being able to produce a label that adds the finishing touch to a product at the final stage of its journey is a wonderfully inspiring feeling. The look on a customers face as they finally see the result of all their hard work is something that always stays with me and makes me proud of what we do at Etiquette.

How has the printing industry changed since you have started working in the industry?

The emergence of new print technologies such as Digital has really taken hold of the industry and made it lot more competitive in recent years. Customers now have a multitude of options when it comes to how they want their product labels manufactured so its important that we continue to adapt to these changes and deliver the excellent service Etiquette has always been known for.

What are your ambitions for the future regarding the business?

To continue to experience sustainable growth year on year by producing premium quality products that help improve the businesses of our customers. As always we will invest in the right technologies that allow us to do this to the best of our ability. As well as happy customers, I also want happy staff so will continue to do all I can to maintain and grow the Etiquette family.
