The Datalogic Heron has been developed by Datalogic in order to satisfy all requirements at the POS, providing high performance and an innovative design suitable for small retail POS applications. The Datalogic Heron, based on the "INSTINCTIVE READING DISTANCE" concept (from near contact to over 20cm), includes the "Green Spot" (Datalogic Patent Application), which provides "good reading" feedback directly on the code, where the user usually tends to be looking.

The stand included in the package allows the reader to be used in hands-free mode. If placed correctly in the stand, the reader beeps and automatically switches to hands-free mode.

The Touch has a choice for every application: the Datalogic Touch 65 features improved resolution while the Datalogic Touch 90 features a wider scan area. Both use "Puzzle Solver" technology to combine and decode partial data from multiple scans, increasing the speed of successful results.

The Pro EAS version features Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) technology which allows scanning and EAS Deactivation in one step.
